THE latest in a series of guides covering all aspects of bringing up children was launched this week.
Copies of Durham for Under Eights, by Clever Clogs Publishing, were presented to youngsters in the district.
The booklet follows the publication of previous versions for under fives, and is available free from health visitors, libraries and toddler groups across Durham.
Written with busy parents and carers in mind, the guide offers bite-sized pieces of information on all aspects of parenting, including child care solutions, ideas for days out and useful health tips. It also contains details of Brownie packs, ball pools, gymnastics classes and junior kickboxing.
Co-authors Heather Alabaster and Susie Macdonald, who are parents of children aged three to 13, visited or spoke to as many organisations as possible in preparing the guides.
Ms Alabaster said: "We worked closely with people in Durham's communities to find out what information they wanted and needed to be included.
"The guides are ideal for first-time parents, people new to the area and families with older children who are looking for ideas to entertain them and keep them busy."
Durham for Under Eights is part-funded by Durham's Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership and Sure Start.
