AN ARCHITECT who died from liver cancer was remembered at a school's annual prize giving ceremony.

The Robert Niven Prize was awarded for the first time at King James 1 Community College to the student who achieved the most outstanding performance in design and technology.

The prize was presented to 16-year-old Stephanie Peacock by Mr Niven's widow, Meg.

Deputy headteacher Steve Rodchester said of Mr Niven: "He became a good friend to the school and we wanted to do something in his memory.''

Pupils past and present attended the ceremony with teachers, parents and friends.
