Alan Shearer has nailed once and for all any suggestion that he could be tempted out of international retirement, writes Clive Hetherington.
Tord Grip, England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson's right-hand man, yesterday admitted they could attempt to persuade Newcastle striker Shearer to reconsider his decision to turn his back on his country.
The 32-year old former England captain called time on his international career after Euro 2000 to concentrate all his energies on the Magpies.
And Shearer maintained: "I have no thoughts of turning back the clock.
"I am 100 per cent sure that I have made the right decision. I believe I am doing OK for Newcastle because I am not playing for England any more.
"I am enjoying it more than ever, playing for my home-town club and I will not change my mind."
