A PRIMARY school is celebrating after receiving an award.
Sessay C E Primary School, near Thirsk, has been awarded the Investors in People Standard.
It is awarded to organisations which achieve goals by involving their staff in all aspects of planning, action and evaluation.
The school began working towards the standard in the past school year and found they could change and improve their performance with teamwork and better management practices.
Headteacher Jo Mackle said: "It has celebrated what our school was doing well and confirms our great strengths as a team."
As part of the campaign, the North Yorkshire Learning and Skills Council is working with Business Link York and North Yorkshire, to raise awareness of the standard.
The council's executive director David Harbourne said: "Without exception, all schools which adopt the people management practices tell me how valuable the process has been.
"We are really pleased to have helped these schools develop in a way which puts their staff and skills at the heart of the organisation."
Other schools in the region to receive the award include Aiskew Leeming Bar School, Alanbrooke School in Topcliffe, and Brompton Community Primary School.
