Northallerton manager Peter Mulcaster hailed his side's "magnificent spirit" as they came back from two goals down to beat Shirebrook 6-3 and go into the draw for the fourth round of the Vase.

Northallerton, the only second division team from the Albany Northern League still in the competition looked as if they were on their way out as Shirebrook dominated the first half.

But there was an amazing transformation after the interval as Northallerton stormed back.

"It was unbelievable what the players did," he said. "To score six goals was something nobody dreamt would happen. "

Shirebrook looked to be well in control at the interval when they led 2-0, but Ross Diamond pulled a goal back when he scored from the rebound after Craig Bishop's shot was blocked. Ross Foreman levelled from Onions' pass and they went ahead when Steve Osborne headed home.

Matt Cooke got the fourth from the spot following a foul, and Onions grabbed the fifth. Shirebrook pulled a goal back, but Onions raced clear to complete the scoring in the last minute to complete the scoring.

Durham City also had to come back from a half-time deficit to beat Gedling 7-3 after extra-time at the Archibalds Stadium.

Durham were 3-1 down at half-time, but a couple of substitutions helped them on their way.

Micky Dunwell cancelled out an early Gedling goal, but Durham then gave away two before half-time. But sub Tony Healer pulled one back with a header after 52 minutes, then Steve Halliday equalised from the spot. Despite all their pressure, Durham couldn't break through again until extra-time. Sam Kitchen headed them in front from a corner, then Dunwell raced clear to make it 5-3. Dunwell grabbed his hat-trick from close range, and Healer finished the game off.

Billingham Town made it three ANL teams into today's draw with a 3-0 win at Grosvenor Park in Bloxwich, two of them coming from striker George Woodhouse.

Town took the lead after 19 minutes when Woodhouse scored with a looping header from a David Gallagher free-kick, and they dominated the game in the second half.

Woodhouse made it 2-0 following good work from Craig Skelton. Then Woodhouse provided the pass for Skelton to score the third late in the game.

Guisborough unfortunately couldn't make it four ANL clubs because they lost 1-0 at home to a useful Mossley outfit.

However, Guisborough had their chances to win. Simon Kasonali hit the woodwork twice before Mossley scored through John Carroll. Darren Mowbray was off target with a penalty, and John Outhwaite also had a goal disallowed.

Dunston's home tie with Whitley Bay was postponed and will now be played on Wednesday.

Morpeth's tie with Willenhall also fell victim to the weather and has been re-arranged for Saturday.
