GOAL hero Richard Offiong doesn't mind what club he's playing for at the moment - as long as he's scoring goals.

Thankfully for caretaker boss Mick Tait that club for the time being is Darlington.

"I love scoring goals wherever I am and hopefully I can score a few more for Darlington," said Offiong.

"I really enjoyed today's game and I thought the fans were great too.

"It was a brilliant feeling when I scored especially on my FA Cup debut.

"The all-round play of the lads was great today and I think that's what won it for us in the end."

The England Under-20 international, who has joined the club on a month's loan from Newcastle, opened his account in style on Saturday with a two-goal blast his mentor Peter Beardsley would have been proud of.

Newcastle Academy coach Beardsley will have been delighted with the 18-year-old's contribution at the weekend and his two predator-like goals had all the hallmarks of Beardsley at his best.

It may be sometime before Offiong gets his chance at St James' Park and for the time being the teenager is happy to do his best for the black and whites of Darlington.

"It's all down to the two clubs on how long I'll be here for but for now I'll make the most of my time here," said Offiong.

"Obviously my aim is to break into the Newcastle side and hopefully the experience here will help me achieve that."

Offiong is grateful of the experience and Tait is just as happy that the club can help with the teenagers progress, while at the same time helping Quakers with a few goals.

"They were two good finishes from Richard," said Tait

"He's a pacey lad and I was very pleased with his contribution."

Tait was also quick to single out Barry Conlon, who was on target for the fourth successive game.

"There were plenty of great performances today and I thought Barry Conlon had a magnificent game," said Tait.

"He was bringing people into the game and kept the game flowing."
