A public meeting to discuss the closure of Guisborough maternity ward will be held at Eston Town Hall on Thursday, at 10.30am.
The meeting has been called by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's special scrutiny committee set up to investigate the closure, which NHS managers say is temporary.
YULETIDE SHOW: A Christmas concert organised by the Rotary Club of Guisborough and Great Ayton takes place on Wednesday, December 18. The concert will feature Rosedale Gilbert and Sullivan Society. The concert starts at 7.30pm in the 17th Century chapel of Sir William Turner's Almshouses at Kirkleatham. Doors open at 7pm. WALKWAY CAROLS: The choir from Galley Hill Primary School, Guisborough will be singing outside the visitor centre at the Guisborough Forest and Walkway, Pinchinthorpe on Sunday. The children will give two performances at 11am and 1pm, with mince pies and hot drinks available. No charge is being made but donations will be accepted for local charities. CHARITY FUND: Yarm and District Lions Club held its annual tinned food collection in the Spitalfields and Levendale areas of the town on Sunday. The club will be collecting in Leven Park on Sunday, from 2pm to 5pm.
COFFEE MORNING: The Inner Wheel Club of Saltburn will be holding a Christmas coffee morning on Saturday at the Methodist Church Hall in Milton Street, Saltburn.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY: An evening class in digital photography and imaging will begin at Laurence Jackson School on Thursday, January 9. Contact Les Thomson at the school for details.
RESEARCH FUNDRAISER: The Redcar and District Friends of Cancer Research UK are holding a coffee morning in the Marske Leisure Centre on Saturday from 10am to noon. Tickets are available at the door priced at 40p.
