WALK TOTAL: Organisers of this year's Frosterley Walk in aid of Cancer Research UK report that £5,888 was raised through sponsorship.
The walk was the 14th to be held and is established as one of the premier fundraising events in Weardale.
CHURCH SERVICES: The following Christmas services are being held at St Mary's and St Stephen's Church, Wolsingham: Sunday, December 22, carol service at 10.45am; Christmas Eve , midnight mass at 11.30pm; Christmas Day, Holy Communion at 10.45am.
Services at St Batholomew's Church, Thornley: Friday, December 20, carol service at 7pm; Christmas Day, Holy Communion at 9.30am.
PUB QUIZ: The Black Lion Jolly Girls at Wolsingham are holding their Christmas quiz in aid of the Wear Valley Centre's minibus fund on Sunday, December 29. Teams of six are needed. Contact the pub for more information.
DISCO DATE: Wearhead United Football Club is holding a Christmas disco at The Weardale Inn, Ireshopeburn, on Saturday, at 8pm. Tickets are available from club members, or can be bought at the door.
