YOUNGSTERS donned their wellington boots and rolled up their sleeves to celebrate National Tree Planting Week.
The children from Escomb Primary School, near Bishop Auckland, planted 30 trees in the grounds of their school with the help of Groundwork South Durham.
Money for the environmental project was given in the form of a £150 grant by Durham County Council through National Tree Planting Week.
The ten and 11-year-olds braved miserable weather and thoroughly enjoyed spending the full day planting the trees
