The Teessiders also had a comfortable victory over North Yorkshire.
David Lloyd Stockton and Academy Harrogate are jointly three points behind, last week's match between them ending in favour of the Thornaby-based centre over an under-strength Academy.
Puma Sunderland got back to winning ways over Yale who did pick up their first point though they are still at the bottom of the table.
