Under-13 - Cup semi-finals
Norton & S'ton Ancients 2 v 3 Lumley
After leading 1-0 and then 2-1, NASA fell to a Lumley side whose attackng play just about deserved to win a very good end-to-end game. Goals for NASA came from Andrea Tomkins (2) and for Lumley from Sarah Unwin (3). Players of the match were Rachel Jamieson and Natalie Garrott
Blyth Town 1 v 2 Boldon Girls
Blyth started well deserving to take the lead with a well taken goal from Girl of the match Rachel Lee, but despite being on top Blyth were unable to increase their tally. However Boldon came more into the game in the second period scoring their first with a header from Jane Riddel at the back post from a well placed corner. Both teams continued to create chances with Sara Scovell playing in goal for Blyth tipping a Boldon shot onto the bar. Abbie Young played an important role in defence for Blyth, at the same time Boldons defence held firm with Joanne Moncur putting in a player of the match performance for the visitors. With the scores level going into the final period it was Boldon who broke the deadlock with a fortuitous goal that looped up spinning into the air beyond the keeper and agonisingly into the Blyth goal. Blyth pushed for the equaliser but were unable to score despite creating some good opportunities. A good game to watch played to a high standard and a great advert for girls football.
