Lumley move to the top of the table with a 4-1 victory over Ryhope who conceded their first points of the season.

There was no stopping the Cestrians and they were three goals up at the halfway stage when Craig McManus scored twice and Simon Dolman once. McManus completed his hat-trick taking the score to 4-0 before Ryhope hit a consolation goal through Richard Hall.

McManus was undoubtedly man of the match but Daniel Kind also played well at the back for Lumley.

Lumley have won six and lost one of their seven games and have now scored 49 goals conceding just seven.

They are three points in front of Jarrow St Bedes and Ryhope, who have the same number of points, but Ryhope have played one game more than Jarrow.

Two games were played in the Jarrow Roofing North East Durham Youth Cup and there were victories for Herrington and Washington Dunlop.

Herrington easily saw off the challenge from Jarrow St Bedes by a 4-0 margin. Michael Fletcher was twice on target in the first period, first with a volley and then with a header. After the break David Smith and Robert Houghton sealed a splendid victory.

Dunlop, who are pointless, rose to the occasion in their home tie with Lambton Street who they defeated 6-1. Lambton Street are another side yet to gain a point and their only goal was scored by David Snowden.

Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League

Redheugh had an easy 5-1 victory at home to North Tyneside College whose only goal was scored by Ian Graham. Chris Laws struck a hat-trick and other scorers for the Reds were David Jeffers and Danny Olusaja.

In midweek Chester-le-Street staged their game with North Tyneside College and won 6-0. Paul McDonald and Mark Adamson both hit a couple of goals and others on the mark for the Cestrians were Andrew Smith and Michael Renshaw.

Redheugh lead the table by just one point from Chester-le-Street. The sides have played the same number of games and Walker Central, who until recently were in pole position, are now third a point adrift of the two leading sides. The trio have all fulfilled eight fixtures.

At the bottom Prudhoe, North Tyneside College and Consett are still without a point.

Coxhoe Boys

The Under-14s' top-of-the-table match against Seaham Red Star at the weekend was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. On Sunday they are away to Leam Rangers.

New County North Durham Youth League

All games in the Under-16 and Under-17 divisions were postponed, but two matches in the Durham County Under-16 Cup did take place.

Redheugh made their exit from the competition when they lost by an only goal visiting Sunderland Fulwell, but there was better news for the league in that Cleveland Hall reached the next round.

They hosted South Shields Wanderers and at the end of a tightly contested tie the Hall won 2-1. Chris Morris was the scorer of their first goal and when Michael Anderson also struck, Cleveland Hall just edged the result.

Riverside

Chester-le-Street

Riverside Under-8s beat East Boldon Colts 1-0 thanks not only to a Danny Ryan goal but also a brilliant performance from stand-in keeper Ross Holland.

The Under-10s had a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Plains Farm with Adam Reach (3) and Danny Holden doing the damage. They lost their second game 1-0 against Washington Envelopes but remain seven points clear at the top of the table.

The Under-11s where too strong for East Boldon eventually running out 6-1 winners. Scorers for Riverside were Arron Wearmouth (2), Mark Graham (2), Simon Towers and Jake Clarke. The Under-12s maintained their third in the table spot with a 1-1 draw away to Redby.

The Under-13s' recent revival continued when they beat Town End Farm 4-2. Riverside opened the scoring with an excellent volley from Adam Barker. Town End equalised shortly after half time but almost immediately Riverside restored their lead when Anil Dialani, playing his first game for the Riverside, scored with a powerful header . Riverside went further ahead when Chris Ryder capped an excellent performance with a left foot drive into the corner of the net. Town End again hit back to make it 3-2 but Mark Peck made the points safe when he met a right wing cross from Anil Dialani and hammered it into the roof of the net.

Apollo Doors Gateshead Youth League

Following the end of a 90-minute thriller, Winlaton reached the next stage of the league cup with a 5-4 victory over Leam Rangers. Michael Hart struck twice for Leam and so too did Michael Thompson for Winlaton.

At Under-12, Consett and Blaydon drew 3-3 with Dean Hall scoring twice for Blaydon. Leam Rangers Y finished 3-1 in front of Swalwell when Scott Anderson bagged a brace.

In the Under-12 Division League Cup Blackfyne won 4-2 at Cleveland Hall and Ryan Bruce grabbed a hat-trick.

In the Under-13 Blaydon romped home 8-0 against Low Fell C, Viv Graham rifled five goals.

There was also just one fixture in the Under-14 division and Burnside did even better than Blaydon in the scoring stakes. They put nine goals past Cooperhall, Stephen Burrows scoring four.

At Under-15 level there was just one fixture and Cleveland Hall took the points with a 3-0 success at Stocksfield. Daniel Gibson scored two of the goals.
