Black Horse 0 v 9 Coulby Newham LF

A hat-trick in each half from Mark Sowerby helped inflict another heavy defeat on the Black Horse. With Neil McGloughlin providing a constant supply of crosses, the Coulby forwards were only too pleased to be getting on the end of them with Sowerby the main beneficiary. Richard May made his contribution scoring after a solo run while Paul Kirby headed home from a corner. Substitute Stephen McIntyre was Coulby's other scorer once again benefiting from good work from McGloughlin.

The Grenadier 1 v 0 Stock. Elementis

With goals galore in most of the games involving Stokesley League sides last weekend, it only took a single strike to give the Grenadier the three points when they entertained Stockton Elementis. Neither side dominated the opening exchanges, although Elementis come closest to scoring when they hit the post in a goalless first half. Fifteen minutes after the break however, Andy Conway headed home a Craig Bishop corner and although Elementis battled hard to take something from the game, the Grenadier, with Craig Leach outstanding in goal, held firm at the back to the final whistle.

Thornaby Village 3 v 5 Stokesley

Michael Bulmer tapped home from close range before Mike Angus lobbed the keeper from 30 yards to give Stokesley the cushion of a second goal before the break. Geoff Belt headed home to reduce the arrears early in the second half before Bulmer restored Stokesley's two goal advantage with a powerful shot from 30 yards. A penalty conversion from Darren Robinson brought the Village back in touch once again only for Stokesley defender John Dowd to beat the offside trap before firing home. With fifteen minutes to go, the Village were once again awarded a penalty which Robinson duly despatched and it took a well struck shot from midfielder Neil Nelson to wrap up the points for Stokesley.

North Riding Satuday Challenge Cup round three

Thirsk Falcons AFC 3 Redcar CO 4

Not many sides come back from three goals down but that was exactly what Redcar Coke Ovens did when they travelled to Thirsk. Probably still recovering from the travelling, Coke Ovens were caught cold as Falcons raced into a three nil lead by half time. Seemingly facing defeat, Coke Ovens had other other ideas however and Anthony Gregory started their come back when he scored ten minutes into the second period. Having found the back of the net, Coke Ovens continued to press and drew level with Gregory registering his hat-trick. With extra time looming, Gregory pounced once again to hit the winner and complete a brilliant fightback.

ESSC 1 v 2 B&H Kings Head FC

The all-Stokesley League tie saw the Kings Head come from behind to beat Ennis Square in extra time. Steve Dixon headed home Lee Brady's cross to give Ennis the lead on ten minutes and with Duncan Evans and John Kirk giving little away at the back they held firm till fifteen minutes from time when the King's Head equalised. The game was finally settled in favour of the King's Head when they broke through to score the winner five minutes into extra time.

Carperby Rovers 4 M'brough PO 3

Middlesbrough Post Office's game at Carperby also went into extra time but sadly for the Posties, a goal, two minutes from the end gave victory to the home side. Earlier in the game things looked good for the Post Office with Ian Mills putting them ahead with only two minutes gone and Paul McGlade adding a second ten minutes after half time. Crucially however, just before the break, two players from the Post Office and one from Carperby had been given their marching orders and despite a battling performance from the Post Office nine, Carperby began their comeback on the hour and drew level with ten minutes remaining. Early in the first period of extra time Carperby took the lead for the first time in the game only for Paul McGlade to level once again. With penalties looming, all of the Post Office's hard work was undone with just two minutes left when Carperby hit the winner.

Thornaby Mandale 11 v 4 Spennithorne & Harmby

Current league leaders Thornaby Mandale raced away to a 5-1 lead by half time with Andrew Dyson leading the goal rush in their North Ridiing tie at home to Spennithorne. Dyson found the net twice in the first forty five minutes before taking his tally for the game to five with a second half hat trick. Stephen Lambert was also on the hat trick trail while Bradley Murray (2) and John Gittens also got their names on the score sheet. Spennithorne managed just a single goal in response to the eleven from Mandale but in the last ten minutes they gave the scoreline just a hint of respectability with three more.

Woodmans Ar. 2 v 0 Redcar McKin. P.

Following a goal less first half, they had Chris Mothersill to thank for their opener on the hour mark. Since being moved up front to lead the Woodman's attack, Mothersill has hit eight goals in five games. Having hit four in his previous outing, Mothersill scored the crucial goal when he showed brilliant control to chest the ball down before volleying home from 15 yards.

With Craig Sharpe outstanding in the Woodman's goal, the game was on a knife edge till five minutes from time when Ian Rodger's header found the back of the net.
