On Sunday, December 1, 14 members competed in the Leeds Abbey Dash. Newcomers to the club, Katrina Todd and Beverley Snook, ran their first 10K race and both completed the course in under one hour, finishing 2043rd and 2038th respectively. Other runners included Ian Scott, finishing 80th out of 2344 runners in a time of 35:06 and claiming third Over-45 vet.

Shildon

Two athletes competed at the Blyth Sands Race, which is a five mile handicap race along the sands from Blyth Harbour to Sleaton Sluice and return, conditions were very difficult on the outward run with the runners heading into gale force winds and icy winds from the north sea, however on the return journey things got worse when the tide had come that far in the runners had to run along the promenade. The overall winner of the race was veteran Jimmy Bell of Elswick Harriers in a race time of 30.34, first lady was unattached runner Liz Graham who was sixth overall in a race time of 32.20. Chris Griffith was Shildon's only male representative finishing 58th overall in a race time of 40.12 as was Jackie Robinson who was Shildon's only lady representative finishing 103rd in a race time of 47.32.

The following Saturday at the Norman Woodcok six mile race held at Gosforth Park, Chris Griffith carried the flag for Shildon again when he finished in 65th place in a time of 37.54. The overall winner was Dave Anderson of Belgrave Harriers in 28.33.

The next day at the second minor Athletes Indoor Grand Prix, held at Monkton Stadium, Scott Thornton unbeaten record in the 300m with an all the way winner in a time of 1.02.43, club mate Jonathan Griffith finished third in the heats of the under-10s, 60m in a time of 10.21 and finished second in the 450m in a time of 1.36.41.
