A CAR plant has won an award for its training excellence.
Sunderland car maker Nissan received the award from comedian Rory Bremner as part of the 2002 Special National Training Awards.
Also at the ceremony was Charles Clarke MP, Secretary of State for Education and Skills, who said: "I congratulate this year's award winners. They have all demonstrated just how quality education and training can make the difference, turning round businesses and opening doors for individuals. Initiatives such as the National Training Awards are helping to make the case for learning."
Nissan was given the award for its programme to train 1,000 additional staff for the production of new models, which represented a £4.24m investment.
