DETECTIVES are continuing to hunt for a man who indecently assaulted two women in Darlington town centre.
Police said they had received a number of calls from the public after the search for the attacker was highlighted in The Northern Echo.
One of the victims, a 23-year-old woman from Barnard Castle, County Durham, spoke out about the assault in a bid to catch the culprit.
A Darlington police spokesman said: "There has been a number of calls after The Northern Echo report was published.
"One or two names have been put forward and at the moment we are in the process of eliminating people and following up information."
The first assault was on November 26, in the car park of JJB Sports, in East Street. The victim was dragged into a dark corner and indecently assaulted.
A few days later, on December 1, a 16-year-old girl was dragged into a park off Haughton Road and assaulted.
Police are not ruling out a link between the two attacks and three other assaults in the town centre in the past year.
The attacker is described as being about 17, of medium build and clean shaven.
Anyone with information or who witnessed one of the attacks is asked to contact police on (01325) 467681.
