THE success of a 12-year-old plastics company has been underlined by the opening of a factory.
The Vale of York's Tory MP Anne MacIntosh was the special guest at the function on the outskirts of Easingwold
Industrial Textiles and Plastics Ltd was founded in Husthwaite, near Coxwold, in 1990.
Its new complex includes offices and a warehouse. The move to bigger premises will enable the company to continue to expand and to increase its exports to Europe.
At the ceremony Miss McIntosh said the company's success proved that not all of rural life was in decline.
"These have been difficult times for manufacturing, but ITP has bucked the trend in spectacular fashion," she said.
ITP, which employs 14 staff, produces reinforced sheeting and building membranes which are sold to the scaffolding and construction industry.
Products include Powerclad scaffold sheeting that covers buildings during construction or refurbishment.
Earlier this year, Industrial Textiles and Plastics was awarded a DTI grant for a research and feasibility project to enhance the chemical resistance of polyethylene which is a major component in its materials.
