RESIDENTS' fears over speeding cars could be allayed with a 40mph limit through their village.
Darlington Borough Council is applying to put the speed restriction on the A68 at Redworth village. The council placed an advisory 30mph sign on a bend into the village but the new speed restriction will be compulsory.
It will cover a stretch of road from the turning for Redworth Hall on the south of the village to the outskirts on the north.
Anyone objecting to the introduction of the speed limit has until January 17 to make their case. If there are no objections, the signs will be installed next Spring
