A NORTHERN Echo reporter went through the pain barrier to raise money for The Giving Tree appeal.
Sedgefield chief reporter Andrew White got colleagues, friends and family to sponsor him to have one of his leg swaxed yesterday.
Beauty therapist Joanna Gascoigne, of Bodyworks Beauty Salon, in Tangles hairdressers, Post House Wynd, donated her services.
Andrew hopes to raise about £200 from his ordeal, which will go to the annual Giving Tree appeal, supported by The Northern Echo.
The appeal asks Christmas shoppers to buy an extra gift and deliver it to one of the collection points around Darlington.
The gifts are distributed to children and families in the town for Christmas day.
Presents can be delivered to The Northern Echo's Darlington head office in Priestgate, Matalan, in Neasham Road, Asda, in Whinbush Way, or Alpha Radio, in Woodlands Road. After his waxing, Andrew said: "It was pretty painful, but it was for a good cause so it was worth it."
