OBJECTORS to a controversial housing development may have to wait until the New Year to find out if it will go ahead.
Land south of Moor Lane, Wingate, was earmarked for housing in 1983, and, at a public inquiry in 1999, it was decided that 60 homes could be built there.
Now, outline planning permission is being sought to realise the proposal.
At a meeting of Easington District Council last month, councillors deferred making a decision until after a site visit.
They have now deferred their decision again, making it unlikely that the matter will be resolved this month.
The latest deferral means objectors, including 72 who have signed a petition face an anxious wait.
