PUPILS pulled on their dancing shoes for an annual competition.
Hurworth Comprehensive School's inter-house dance competition is always fiercely contested and this year was no exception.
Each of the five houses had to choose music and a routine to perform in front of the head girl and head boy, who were the judges for the competition.
Teacher Rita Rees said: "It really generates a lot of enthusiasm amongst the kids. They have been practicing for weeks after school and in their lunch hours.
"They can do whatever they like and they have got to choose the music and create the dance."
Staff also got involved in the competition, which gains house points for the winning teams.
This year's winner from the upper school was Rosedale, which included a dance to the song Hot Stuff and involved a routine from the film The Full Monty.
The lower school winner was Swaledale, whose routine to the song Grease Lightning involved 20 pupils.
