A DRIVER who was killed in a three-car pile-up at the weekend was named by police last night.
Richard David Jameson, 44, from Eppleby, near Richmond, North Yorkshire, died on Saturday on the A67 west of Gainford, between Darlington and Barnard Castle.
The front seat passenger in his Nissan Micra has not been named, but is believed to be his 42-year-old partner.
She was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital with injuries to her sternum and spine.
The driver of a Toyota MR2, a 32-year-old woman from Staindrop, was recovering in the same hospital yesterday.
A 55-year-old Barnard Castle man, who was driving a Ford Focus, was uninjured.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the smash, which happened at about 12.40pm.
