RADIO One has plucked a young DJ from obscurity to become the new voice of the British charts.
Wes Butters, 23, will host the station's most popular show, Sunday afternoon's official Top 40 chart show, which has run for 50 years.
The hotseat had been occupied by veteran Mark Goodier, who has been signed up to present the Smash Hits chart show on commercial radio.
Until last month, Wes was a presenter on the Galaxy station in Newcastle and was unknown to listeners outside the North-East.
He said: "Coming to work at Radio One is the big gig and I cannot wait to get started. The Top 40 show is a huge deal and it is going to be amazing."
