An empty building which had become run down and was a blot on Harrogate's town centre landscape, is now being replaced with 16 two-bedroomed apartments in Commercial Street.
The affordable homes will be for people living and working in Harrogate, giving a chance for young people and key workers to join the housing market.
Under a shared ownership scheme, purchasers can buy a 50 or 75 per cent share with rent being paid to Leeds Federated Housing Association for the remainder.
The site was formerly Josephine's nightclub, but had stood empty for several years.
