TALENTED footballers from a Darlington school are celebrating a famous victory.
Hummersknott School and Language College's under-16 boys' team produced a superb performance to win the Bert Hodgson County Cup in a match in Durham.
It is the first time a Darlington school has won the trophy since 1975, and sports teacher Stuart Souter said he was proud of the team's display.
A tightly contested game produced two first-half goals from Hummersknott players Andrew Caldwell and Chris Smith.
Their opponents, Biddick Sports College, came back in the second half, but Hummersknott defended their lead and won the match by two goals to one.
The team is now going on to take part in a national competition in January.
