Thieves stole cases of Budweiser and Beck's beer and bottles of Jack Daniels whisky and Smirnoff vodka from the Cumberland Arms, in Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland, at the weekend.

Police said the raiders broke into the cellar between 11.10pm on Saturday and Sunday lunchtime. Anyone with information can contact Bishop Auckland police on (01388) 603566.

EXAM SUCCESS: Jacqueline Wilkinson, 23, from Bishop Auckland, has gained the highest marks in northern England in her accounting examination for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Jacqueline, who works at the Chester-le-Street branch of Rowlands Chartered Accountants, is studying for further ICAEW examinations next year.

SNEAK THEFT: Two handbags were stolen from a house in Linburn Drive, Bishop Auckland, between 5.20pm and 6pm on Saturday.

TRUST BOARD: A meeting of the County Durham and Darlington Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Board will be held on Thursday, at the University Hospital of North Durham.

HOUSE BURGLED: A Sony Playstation 2 console and ten games, worth £500, were stolen from a house in Hatfield Road, Newton Aycliffe, between 2.30pm and midnight on Saturday.

CAR RAID: Three control pads for an X-Box games console and assorted games were stolen from the back seat of a Vauxhall Corsa in Davy Street, Ferryhill, between 7.30pm and 7.45pm on Saturday.

AMPLIFIER STOLEN: A Kenwood amplifier, worth £200, and a Sony mini-disc player, model number NDXC5970R, valued at £350, were stolen from a Vauxhall Astra Belmont in Scotton Street, Shildon, between 11.30pm on Friday and 7.30am on Saturday.

HEALTH AUTHORITY: This month's meeting of the County Durham and Tees Valley Strategic Health Authority will be held tomorrow, at the Morton Park Business Training Centre, Yarm Road, Darlington.

CHURCH SERVICES: St John's Church, Neasham Road, Darlington, will be holding a Christingle service for children on Christmas Eve at 4.30pm, followed by a midnight Mass starting at 11.30pm. On Christmas Day, there will be a parish Eucharist service at 10am. A carol service will be held on January 5, at 4pm.

PARISH COUNCIL: The next meeting of Stanhope Parish Council will be held in Stanhope Town Hall on Wednesday, January 8, at 7pm.
