HIT-AND-RUN victim Katie Scales returned home yesterday after 12 days in hospital, while police continue to search for the driver of the car that knocked her down.
Since an appeal made by her father, Jeff Scales, of Haxby, York, on Friday, officers have managed to eliminate more drivers from their investigations.
Katie was knocked down by a black Fiat Punto on a marked crossing in Blossom Street, York, on Wednesday, December 4. She suffered a broken jaw, severe facial injuries and memory loss.
Traffic Constable Richard Gatecliffe said: "We have had about two dozen calls regarding black Fiat Puntos needing repairs. Some of these have been eliminated from the inquiries, others are still being followed up by the investigation team."
PC Gatecliffe said Katie was still poorly when she returned home, but was glad to be with her family.
