Mick Tait will resist the temptation of making another move into the transfer market, despite having no goalkeeper cover for the weekend.
Darlington's caretaker boss had been expected to draft in another shot-stopper this week following Michael Ingham's return to Sunderland.
Rib injury victim Andy Collett has been pencilled in for a Boxing Day return at Carlisle, and rather than make another loan signing for one game, Tait is prepared to take a gamble for Saturday's clash with Macclesfield at Feethams.
Chris Porter will be handed his fourth start of the season with midfielder Neil Maddison resuming his role as reserve goalkeeper on the bench.
Tait revealed: "I'm not going to bring someone in just for the sake of one game."
Ingham was an unused substitute in Sunderland's 2-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday, just 24 hours after keeping a clean sheet while helping Quakers secure their third successive win at Hull.
"We've been a bit unfortunate with Michael going back to Sunderland, although it's something we have to accept and get on with," said Tait.
"Colly's confident he'll be back for Boxing Day. I have no worries about including Chris and I'm confident he'll do a good job for us.
"My only concern is not having another goalkeeper on the bench, which is obviously a bit dodgy.
"When you look at it 99 times out of 100 everything works out OK but there is always that small chance it might not.
"It is something I'm reluctant to do but we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed Chris will be OK."
Meanwhile, referee Mark Warren is to study a video of Saturday's game at Hull, in which skipper Craig Liddle was sent off for a professional foul on Phil Jevons - and Tait is confident of a positive outcome.
"The referee will be looking at video footage of the incident so we're very hopeful," said Tait.
"I've spoken to someone who has one or two better pictures of the incident and apparently it shows clearly that it wasn't a foul.
"He'll serve a one-match ban if the ref decides to stick with his decision but when you look at it, it was ridiculous."
Quakers will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to six games for the visit of Macclesfield and Tait is understandably delighted with his in-form side.
"I've been very pleased with the way we've being playing," said Tait. "Hull made it very difficult for us on Saturday but I thought we showed plenty of character and performed well defensively.
"The lads have been brilliant and I really can't ask for any more from them."
Darlington reserves are at home to Boston United's second string in a re-arranged game at Feethams tonight. Kick-off is as 7pm
