YOUNGSTERS have been rewarded for their creative contributions to a regeneration scheme.
Four children from Easington Primary School took joint first and second places in a competition to design a logo for the district's Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder scheme.
The villages of Easington Colliery and Horden are among 21 areas nationwide to be chosen for the regeneration initiative, involving testing out ideas and approaches to service provision and neighbourhood management.
The venture will run for seven years and bring £2m to the district.
On Monday, Easington District Council's chairman, Councillor Jeff Gray, presented the winners with their prizes.
Councillor Dennis Raine, chairman of the pathfinder scheme, said: "Now that the Government has given the go-ahead to the project, we are looking forward to improving Easington Colliery and Horden."
The winners, from year six, were Craig Williams and Stephan Bellerby, and the runners-up were Andrew Crook and Amy Wilson.
