FATHER Christmas has taken time out of his busy schedule to visit Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.
Despite his hectic programme, Santa still managed to dip his toes in the newly refurbished learner pool when he dropped into the centre to officially open it.
Children from the water confidence classes received gifts as they enjoyed their first fun sessions in the pool.
A new swimming programme starts in January. It will feature water confidence classes, swimming lessons for beginners, intermediate and improvers for children.
Adults can also join in the fun with courses for adults who wish to learn to swim, adult stroke improvement and adult master classes available.
There are still vacancies on the courses, but places are limited. To register for any of the classes call (01325) 300800.
Father Christmas will also be making appearances on December 23 and Christmas Eve when he will give out gifts to children who swim on those days.
The centre has a special offer on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, with swimming for just 25p.
