MARTIN SCOTT today resumes his youth team duties at Hartlepool United with a big thank-you from Mike Newell.
Scott's stint as acting assistant manager - which started when Chris Turner left Victoria Park almost six weeks ago - ends today when Kevin Sheedy officially takes up his role as Newell's right-hand man.
And Newell, desperate to prove last weekend's 4-0 thumping at Rochdale was a one-off, admitted: "I'd like to thank Martin for everything he has done since Chris Turner left and while I've been here.
"He's been a great help to me and although he's going back to his old role he will still be involved with the first team.''
Newell will have Micky Barron and Darrell Clarke back from suspension when Pool entertain Rochdale on Saturday and is hopeful of having Paul Smith available after he missed out at Rochdale with a thigh injury
