TRAIN enthusiast Andrew Jordan has his very own station to watch over - and all at the age of just ten.
Andrew is among an army of volunteers, the rest all grown-ups, working with Arriva Trains Northern by adopting their train station.
All 242 of the train operator's stations across the North of England have been adopted and Andrew is playing his part in reporting back on everything from station tidiness to checking timetables are in place.
Andrew carries out inspections at the Newton Aycliffe station with his mum Ena and seven-year-old sister Kathryn.
He signed up to the Adopt a Station scheme an appeal for people to get involved.
Andrew said: "I really enjoy going on the train. On the bus you go round the houses but on a train you go straight there.
"Having my own station to watch over is an added bonus, although it did take a while to convince my friends that I really had adopted our local station."
The scheme, which aims to get people involved in their local station, supplements inspections carried out by Arriva Trains Northern.
