A War memorial has been desecrated by vandals.
Graffiti has been daubed on three sides of the Oliver's Mount memorial, overlooking Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
Paint obscures many of the names of the dead of the two world wars.
David Balmforth, president of the Royal British Legion at Scarborough said "Words cannot express my disgust. It shows a total lack of respect."
