A TINY Darlington fashion business is in the running for a North-East Business of the Year Award.
Embelliss, which was set up two years ago by design graduates Anna Summerson and Alison Dunn, has been named among the six finalists for the business award.
The designers, who studied together at Nottingham Trent University, specialise in hand-made garments and work from a small studio above a hairdresser's, in Skinnergate.
They set up their business two years ago with the help of the Prince's Trust and now supply shops in Liverpool, Pontefract, Nottingham and Manchester.
Their stockists include Copperfield Clothing, in Northallerton, and Verge, in Durham City.
The pair hope to expand their chain of stockists and eventually own their own shop and studio.
The Prince's Trust Business Start-Up programme provides grants and low-interest loans to unemployed and under-employed young people aged between 18 and 30.
The business awards recognise the achievements of trust-supported businesses.
The final takes place at Lumley Castle later this month.
