Regional development agency One NorthEast is on the move to new headquarters.
Technical staff from the agency are currently relocating to the new building, Stella House, at Newburn Riverside in Newcastle, to oversee its fitting out in time for its official opening in February.
The building is named after the previous occupiers of the site, the Stella North Power Station. The new offices consist of 63,000 sqft of space on a four acre site, based around a central courtyard.
Features of the new building include using solar water heating and recycling roof water with the aim of achieving a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) "Excellent" rating.
The move to Newburn Riverside sees the merger of One NorthEast's three offices in Newcastle and Gateshead.
It will continue to maintain it's office at Belasis Technology Park, Billingham as a base for it's Tees Valley sub-regional team.
Mike Collier, Chief Executive, One NorthEast said: "This move marks a landmark for One NorthEast, becoming the first organisation to locate to Newburn Riverside and after operating for nearly four years in several locations virtually all the Agency staff will be accommodated under one roof."
Newburn Riverside was one of the country's largest land reclamation schemes covering 230 acres.
Now complete, it has 62 acres of public open space and development sites to accommodate 180,000 sqm of development with the potential to attract around £116m of private sector investment and create up to 5,000 jobs.
