ONLY the highest Pennine peaks have boasted some snow over the Christmas holiday - but that has not stopped a farm shop building snowmen to make customers feel a little more festive.
The figures, positioned next to the A66 transpennine trunk road near East Layton, between Scotch Corner and Greta Bridge on the County Durham and North Yorkshire border, have been attracting comments from passers-by, especially after the snowmen were joined by some equally monstrous turkeys.
Both are the creations of the Henshaw family, who own the prize-winning Mainsgill Farm Shop.
"I suppose they've already become a bit of a landmark," said Maria Henshaw, who runs the business with her husband, Andrew.
"We did something similar before with farm animals, but this seemed a little more seasonal.
"It's been surprising how many people have called in to chat about them," she said.
With Christmas over, the snowmen's days are numbered - at least for the next 12 months.
"But I think it's fair to say we'll be thinking of some other ideas we can use around Easter or in the summer," said Mrs Henshaw.
