POLICE in East Durham have arrested five more people during a crackdown on the area's drug trade.
A man and a woman in their 30s were arrested and heroin seized in Easington Village two days before Christmas.
On Monday a 38-year-old man was arrested and four ounces of cannabis worth about £300 was found when police searched a house in Station Town.
Heroin worth £300 was recovered following a search of a house in Easington Colliery on New Year's Eve. Two men, aged 31 and 32, spent the night in police cells. All five were released on police bail.
The latest arrests bring the total number of alleged dealers caught by police over the past few weeks to 25.
Police in the area have been targeting dealers as part of the countywide Operation Bullseye.
Before the latest arrests, drugs worth £27,000 had been recovered, including quantities of Class-A drugs such as heroin, cocaine and Ecstasy.
