Wear Valley District Council's Wear Fit Programme and Willington Medical Group have joined forces to offer free advice and consultation sessions for anyone wishing to get fit.
The 20-minute consultation will be with a qualified and experienced health and fitness consultant. The sessions are available on Tuesdays, between 1pm and 4pm, at Willington Health Centre, in Chapel Street. Booking is essential. Contact Kathleen on (01388) 646040 for details.
NEW POST: Greg Burke has been appointed modernisation and strategy manager at Darlington Primary Care Trust. He previously worked for County Durham and Darlington Health Authority.
GPS APPRAISED: A £42,000 GP appraisal scheme has been set up in the Darlington borough. It will support 66 GPs in eleven practices with seven trained appraisers. The target is to appraise each doctor by the end of March.
CARE TRUST: Darlington Primary Care Trust has become a member of the Darlington and Durham County Racial Equality Council, pledging to promote equal opportunities for people of different ethnic backgrounds.
COMMITTEE MEETS: Spennymoor Town Council's finance and general purposes committee will meet tomorrow, at Spennymoor Town Hall.

ART EXHIBITION: The Jack Reading Bequest: The Early Work of Tom McGuinness features more than 50 examples of the North-East artist's work. The exhibition starts next Monday, and continues until February 1, at Bishop Auckland Town Hall.

CABINET TALKS: The next meeting of Sedgefield Borough Council's cabinet will be on Thursday, at 10am, in the council offices, Spennymoor.
PARISH COUNCIL: The next meeting of Stanhope Parish Council will be held on Wednesday, at 7pm, in the town hall.
SLIMMING CLASS: The WeightWatchers slimming organisation is launching an extra meeting in Darlington from today. The meeting will be held every Monday at 5.30pm, in the Darlington and Simpson Rolling Mills Social Club, in Whessoe Road. WeightWatchers is offering new members free registration of £9 at the meeting.
