A CONSULTATION period looking at a vision for Darlington's future will end this month.
The Darlington Partnership is devising a community strategy aimed at creating opportunities and key issues for the town over the next ten years.
A consultation draft has been drawn up and distributed to local partners in the public, private, voluntary and community sectors. The consultation period will end on January 31 and a revised strategy will be produced next month on the basis of the results.
Plans include a business park, dubbed Bank Top Village, built on wasteland off Haughton Road, close to the East Coast mainline.
Other visions include a shopping complex at Commercial Street, a station linking the future Tees Valley Metro to Morton Palms business park and the new home for Darlington College of Technology.
Keys areas of the community strategy have been identified. These are to develop an area for creating and sharing prosperity, a location for learning, achievement and leisure, a place for living safe and well and to provide a high quality environment with excellent communication.
