PLANS to build a community centre on a Darlington estate have been announced.
The proposal to demolish and replace Firthmoor Community Centre has been submitted to Darlington Borough Council for planning approval.
The new building, in Burnside Road, would provide a youth club, meeting rooms, offices for local projects and a nursery.
The scheme is expected to be approved when members of the local authority's planning applications committee meets tomorrow.
Darlington council planning officer Adrian Miller, who is recommending approval, said: "The proposed development is acceptable in terms of its design and impact on the street scene."
