TECHNOLOGY teacher Eric Wood will give a lesson in ornithology on Sunday.
The expert will give a talk at Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park, Normanby, on Sunday, from 11am to 12.30pm.
Mr Wood, who teaches at Hall Garth School, Middlesbrough, is also chairman of the Tees Ringing Group, operating under the British Trust for Ornithology's ringing scheme.
With other members of the group, he will be demonstrating how the group rings and releases birds that visit the Country Park's garden, storing the information in a nationwide database.
Mr Wood said: "We use mist nets, with very fine mesh. The birds will be mostly finches and tits. And we will set up a ringing station to give them an individual number, or they may have already been ringed, then measure and weigh them, before releasing them."
The event will also give people the opportunity to make bird food from recipes. Entry is £1. To take part, call (01642) 459629.
