A SCOUT from Bishop Auckland is the first in his troop to gain a coveted award.
Ryan Bunker, of 2nd Bishop Auckland Scouts, organised a host of activities on his way to achieving the explorer award.
To gain the badge he had to show good knowledge of emergency precautions, safety instructions and cook a meal under expedition conditions.
As leader of the Swift Patrol he led pioneering projects, proved his navigation abilities and ensured that his patrol were never unoccupied by holding activities for three of the four weekends in November.
While working towards the prize, Ryan also gained the scout and pathfinder ward, leadership award and ten proficiency badges
