STOKESLEY is to the latest market town to get a farmers' market.
Following a meeting between parish councillors and Alastair Davy, of Northern Dales Farmers' Markets, it was proposed that there would be a total of 16 stalls initially, the number increasing in due course to 22.
All traders would pay a standard rental rate of 70p per foot, a figure which applies to any kind of market.
A farmers' market would be held on the first Saturday in every month, starting in February, and for a trial period at first of six months.
The Manorial Lands Trustees had agreed to the market being held on the Plain, and letters were to be sent to all residents and businesses in the immediate vicinity, informing them of the decision.
The police would be asked to cone off the Plain before each market.
