THE Braes of Derwent (South) Pony Club has enjoyed one of the most successful years in its history under the guidance of new district commissioner Jenny Deary.

Club members Angus Smales and Neil Young were chosen to represent Great Britain in eventing and horseball respectively in 2002, while national honours also went to the dressage team of Joanne Little, Naomi New, Sandie Minto and Laura Britton.

The quartet represented the club at the national pony club championships, at which Joanne Little scored a tremendous overall victory in the individual competition.

Mrs Deary introduced tetrathlon to the Braes last year as members increased their knowledge and horsemanship in a fun-filled environment.

There are plans to introduce polocross to members this year.

Several different disciplines are catered for within the club, including dressage, eventing, showjumping, mounted games and tetrathlon and plans for 2003 also include picnic rides, beach trips and a 21st birthday ball in the summer.
