Bishop Auckland and District CIU Winter - Cockton Hill made an excellent start to the New Year when they won four section matches and drew one on their visit to Eldon Lane. Their key victory came in the pool section, where they only dropped one point to move level at the top of the section, although Tindale Crescent are just a point behind with a match in hand.
Kevin Weldon took the only pool point for Eldon Lane, whilst Cockton Hill went to victory with wins from Colin Britton, Russell Place and Peter Race.
Cockton Hill lead the darts section by eight points from Tindale Crescent, West Auckland lead Tindale by two in the dominoes, Eldon Lane lead the whist by three points from West Auckland and Tindale, whilst Horndale lead the fives and three by seven points.
Tow Law Newcastle Courage Cup
Tow Law North Point and the neighbouring Rose and Crown share the top spot in League A following victories for both teams. The Rose and Crown entertained Tow Law New Market A and won by five points, whilst the North Point visited Sunniside Comedian and won by three points. This leaves them equal on games won as well as frames won and lost.
Tow Law New Market A's four points at the Rose and Crown came from pool singles wins by Terry Taylor and Goff Bramfitt, a pool doubles from Stephen Laing and Phil Spencer and a dominoes singles from Terry Taylor. The home side had pool singles points from Anthony Ward, Adam Orton, Lee Mowbray and Gavin Hammell with the same four adding dominoes singles to the two pool doubles.
Paul Moore and John Conley took pool singles for the Comedian against the visiting North Point, who had wins from Gary Watson, Alan Henderson, George Pitts and Paul Graham but the home side fought back to take two of the three doubles. Chris Railton and John Conley took dominoes points but the Points dominoes winners were Phil Hall, Gary Watson, Alan Henderson and Paul Graham.
Willington Ladies League
Willington Club B have moved into the New Year with a 20 point advantage in the Overall Table of darts and dominoes.
The positions and points totals are: 1st Willington Club B 158 points; 2 Hunwick Joiners Arms 138; 3 Willington Burn 129; 4 equal Sunnybrow Brown Trout, Willington Cottles and Willington Market 127 each; 7 Willington Club A 124; 8 Willington Lion and Unicorn 119; 9 Willington Black Horse A 105 and 10th Willington Black Horse B 92.
Magnet League
The Preliminary round of the fives and threes pairs knockout competition will be played on Friday, January 17, deadline 8.30pm. (games may be re-arranged by mutual consent). Results to be forwarded to C. Holmes within seven days of the deadline, otherwise both competitors may be expelled from the competition. Substitutes are allowed. The first round will be played on Friday, February 21.
