MOTOR clubs have enjoyed mixed fortunes with the weather over the past two weekends due to the snow and rain.
Consett Motor Club were lucky on December 29 when they ran their Bob Davison trial over a three-lap, 12-section course in and around Buttsfield Quarry, Consett.
The event had an excellent entry of 147 competitors and North East ace Mike Phillipson rode his Beta brilliantly to take the win without loss of marks from Colin Ward (Sherco), who dropped just one.
The A-class youth section went to Gavin Lowther (Gas Gas) and the B-class youth winner was Scott Fenton, neither of whom were far behind the leading experts, finishing on five marks each.
Results. - Experts: 1 Mike Phillipson (Beta) 0; 2 Colin Ward (Sherco) 1. A-class youth: 1 Gavin Lowther (Gas Gas) 5. B-class youth: 1 Scott Fenton (Sherco) 5. Middlesbrough Motor Club held their centre restricted trial last Sunday in Lazonby Bank Woods, Eston.
There was no snow problem, but the very wet and slippery conditions made some of the sections very tricky.
Tim Peace rode his Gas Gas well to take the win by a single mark from Phil Mayfield, with Roger Williams a further five marks down.

Not so lucky with the weather was the South Shields Motor Club, who had to cancel their Caer Urfa club trial at Shield Close, Westgate in Weardale on Sunday due to the heavy snowfall.
