COMMUNITY groups are being offered free computers, up-graded by a Saltburn firm.
The Digital Communities Project has nine computers to give away.
The computers were donated to the project by members of the public and have all been reconditioned by technical experts so they can be used again.
There are seven PCs up for grabs which would be ideal for groups who want to keep records or accounts and two Apple Macs which would be suitable for arts-based groups.
None of the computers have modems for Internet access but the project, which is funded by One NorthEast, hopes to raise more money to offer more high-tech computers to community groups in the future.
A steering committee will decide who will receive the seven computers.
Community groups in the Redcar and Cleveland areas who would like a computer are asked to call (01287) 201088.
