A SEARCH and rescue team is will be one of the good causes to benefit from the charity efforts of dog owners.
A walk in Raby Castle's grounds, near Staindrop, has been organised by Barnard Castle dog training club.
The group's second Great North dog walk raises money for Teesdale and Weardale search and rescue, the Border Collie Rescue charity, in Richmond, and the training club's Barney Bullets flyball team.
It is hoped the walk on Saturday, February 15 will attract 100 dogs and their owners.
The collective distance covered will equal that from Barnard Castle to Crufts, at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, and back.
Sponsorship forms and information packs are available from Castle Vets, in Montalbo Road, and Star Footwear, Star Yard, both Barnard Castle, or by calling (01833) 638584.
Last year's walk raised almost £2,000 for the special care baby unit at Bishop Auckland General Hospital and the intensive care unit at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
