THE price of keeping fit is getting cheaper for some people in Hambleton.
The local authority has extended its range of reduced and concessionary prices at its four leisure centres and swimming pools.
Lower prices are now being offered to full-time students, people with disabilities (and their carers), people over 60 who are retired and people receiving Government benefits.
Cabinet spokesman on leisure Susan Latter said: "We want to encourage more people to visit our centres to improve their health and well-being.
"We are particularly keen to attract those who are put off improving their health because of a lack of disposable income. By offering even cheaper prices for good quality services we hope to attract people who might have previously been deterred by the cost."
The reduced prices are part of a wider 'Go Passport to Leisure' scheme, which starts at the centres from Monday. People who meet the criteria to join the scheme can receive discounts such as £1 off a swim or £1.10 off a single gym workout.
