A DATE has been set for the departure of Hartlepool Borough Council's chief executive.
Brian Dinsdale has been chief executive at Hartlepool since 1988. He was awarded the OBE for services to the borough in January 2002. He will leave the post on February 21.
Mr Dinsdale, who will start his new job as chief executive of Middlesbrough Council on February 24, said: "The decision to leave was a tough one. I have had 14 wonderful years working in Hartlepool and have met some great people.
"Middlesbrough is the only other council I would have considered going to. I live there and am immensely proud of the town. It will present fresh challenges and I am looking forward to it."
Hartlepool mayor Stuart Drummond said: "Everyone speaks extremely highly of Brian Dinsdale and he has been very helpful to me since I was elected in May.
"He has made a massive contribution to the progress Hartlepool has made during the past ten years or so, and I do wish him well in his new post."
